BABA NOIR

It's a true pleasure to proclaim that Baba Noir will grease the wheels of steel for the first time at Inner Varnika this Easter.

A semi-recent emigree to Oz, relocating from Turkey in 2011, Baba Noir has been bringing in near pure form the keening vocal sounds, epic instrumentation and slamming rhythms of Turkish music to Melbourne dancefloors these past few years, to rapturous reception.

A proponent of high fidelity and fine grained detail, Baba Noir is at pains to demonstrate the cultural and musical diversity within the mountainous Anatolia zone: Turkish, Armenian, Kurdish, Georgian and Azerbaijani folk, pop, funk, psychedelia and disco. Don't be surprised if he is the only possessor of certain rare grooves on the entire Australian continent.
